The Campbell Darjeeling is described as having a "muscatel" character, reminiscent of muscadine grape.
This Darjeeling has robust strong full bodied flavour for those that enjoy strong tannins. Dr. Campbell was appointed Superintendent of Darjeeling by The East India Company, and he planted tea in the grounds of his official residence. The success of the plants led to the establishment of numerous tea gardens. After 1850 the cultivation area was extended and the success of Darjeeling tea was assured.
