Strawberry & Champagne Extra Jam

Whole strawberries and Champagne make a playful combination in this well-set jam with a lovely aroma and flavour. Fruit preserves were termed ‘jam’ in the 17th and 18th centuries. Fruits and sugar were boiled together and sealed to give a long-keeping preserve. Jams, containing vitamin C, were used on The East India Company voyages to prevent scurvy amongst the crew, and as such jams contributed to their health of those on board.
