Victoria Plum Extra Jam
Victoria Plums, named after Queen Victoria are well known for the their use in jams and pies, this well set jam is finished with fine tangy pieces of plum skin. Fruit preserves were termed ‘jam’ in the 17th and 18th centuries. Fruits and sugar were boiled together and sealed to give a long-keeping preserve. Jams, containing vitamin C, were used on The East India Company voyages to prevent scurvy amongst the crew, and as such jams contributed to their health of those on board
